Melania Trump Unveils 2025 White House Christmas Theme ‘Home Is Where the Heart Is’ with Patriotic Cheer and Personal Touches

This year’s festive decorations feature 51 trees, 10,000 blue butterflies, Lego portraits of Trump and Washington, and a tribute to military and foster-care families
First Lady Melania Trump has revealed the 2025 White House Christmas decorations under the theme “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” marking her first full winter holiday in the mansion since returning to the role.

The festive display — unveiled in a video on her social-media account — emphasises love, home and national heritage, as well as personal and charitable values.

The focal point of this year’s décor is the official 2025 Christmas tree, a white fir from Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan, welcomed with ceremonial fanfare to the North Portico and slated for placement in the Blue Room.

The tree is adorned with gold stars and ornaments representing every U.S. state and territory’s official bird and flower, serving as a tribute to Gold Star families who have lost loved ones in military service.

More than 50 Christmas trees in total, 75 wreaths, over 2,000 strands of lights, 25,000 feet of ribbon and 2,800 gold stars now brighten the State Floor rooms.

In the Red Room, 10,000 blue butterflies flutter among ornaments inscribed with “Be Best,” echoing the First Lady’s foster-care and child-welfare initiative.

A gingerbread White House — weighing around 120 pounds — stands in the State Dining Room, paying homage to a longstanding holiday tradition.

A notable and symbolic addition this year is a pair of Lego portraits displayed in the Green Room — one of President Donald Trump and the other of founding father George Washington — each created from more than 6,000 Lego pieces.

The decision reflects a blending of artistry, national history and holiday festivity, underscoring the administration’s emphasis on heritage and legacy.

Due to ongoing renovation work — including demolition of the former East Wing to build a new presidential ballroom — the annual White House tour route has been revised.

Public tours will resume from December 2, restricted to the State Floor rooms where the new decorations are displayed.

Also on Monday, the First Lady and the Second Lady joined military families at Joint Base Andrews to assemble care packages for deployed service members, a gesture meant to underscore the administration’s gratitude for military sacrifice and reinforce the holiday season’s themes of service and community.

In unveiling the decorations, Melania Trump wrote on social media: “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us.” With its mix of patriotic symbols, personal touches, and acts of service, the 2025 display reflects a holiday vision rooted in values of home, heritage and gratitude — inviting Americans and visitors alike to reflect on what “home” truly means in the season of giving.
