Prince Harry and King Charles to Meet in First Reunion After 20 Months

Private meeting set for September 8 in Britain as father and son seek path toward reconciliation
Prince Harry and King Charles III are scheduled to meet in Britain on 8 September, marking their first private encounter in 20 months.

The meeting coincides with the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing and is being described as a simple, respectful, and personal conversation intended to open the door for future dialogue.

According to those familiar with the arrangements, palace officials and Harry’s representatives have been coordinating the meeting, though the two have not spoken directly in advance.

The expectation is for a low-profile gathering without media presence, reflecting a genuine attempt to rebuild trust rather than a public event.

Harry last saw his father in February 2024, when he travelled to the UK following news of the King’s cancer diagnosis.

That meeting reportedly lasted less than an hour.

This upcoming visit will also be Harry’s first return to Britain since his unsuccessful legal effort to secure taxpayer-funded security for himself and his family.

While reconciliation efforts are underway, sources caution that no one is pretending long-standing tensions within the royal family have been resolved.

Still, there is a new sense of possibility.

“Reconciliation is within reach, and both sides want to make it happen,” a source close to Harry was quoted as saying.

Notably absent from the reunion will be Prince William, who has reportedly declined to take part, and Meghan Markle, who will remain in California with their children Archie, aged six, and Lilibet, aged four.

The King has not seen his grandchildren since June 2022, when they visited Britain during celebrations marking the late Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne.

In addition to the meeting with his father, Harry is expected to attend the WellChild Awards, an event supporting a charity he has long championed.

Earlier this summer, he also invited both his father and brother to attend the 2027 Invictus Games, the international sporting tournament he founded for wounded and injured service personnel.

By sending invitations years in advance, Harry is believed to be making a deliberate effort to ensure space in their schedules and encourage their participation.

The planned meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry signals the strongest step yet toward repairing strained relations within the royal family, offering the prospect of renewed dialogue and a possible path forward for this broken family with such a long history of poor family values.
