The White House has moved to ease export restrictions on certain Nvidia artificial-intelligence processors, authorising the company to resume sales of its H200 chips to approved commercial clients in China.

The decision introduces a twenty-five percent fee on each shipment and establishes a licensing framework designed to ensure that only vetted end users receive the hardware.

The shift marks a significant change in Washington’s approach to balancing national-security concerns with the economic interests of American technology firms.

The previous limits had sharply curtailed Nvidia’s access to the Chinese market by blocking its most advanced processors and allowing only downgraded models.

Under the revised policy, high-performance systems such as Blackwell and Rubin remain off-limits, but the H200 is now cleared for export, giving Nvidia renewed access to one of the world’s largest and most strategically important buyers of AI hardware.

Nvidia welcomed the decision, emphasising that it preserves both national-security safeguards and opportunities for U.S. industry.

Officials framed the policy as a pragmatic recalibration that strengthens American leadership in advanced computing while generating revenue for taxpayers through the fee structure.
